Promoting Digital Citizenship

Every student I will ever teach will be a digital native. This means that these students will be born into a world where there are computers, iPads, cellphones, GPS, and the ability to have the world at your fingertips. These are amazing and wonderful tools and abilities, but they can easily be undermined by irresponsible and disrespectful members of the ‘digital society’, the world.

 

I believe the standard “promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility” fits in with my role as a teacher because it is my responsibility to promote and model responsible and respectful actions as a citizen of the world, as a human being. I truly believe it is part of my job to help children grow up to fulfill their greatest potential and to exist as a respectful and responsible human.
