404: Teacher not found (a.k.a. Why Edmodo is a sub’s best friend)
During student teaching, my supervising teacher gave me some sage (and ghoulish) advice: “Make your lesson plans so thorough that if you died in a car crash, the sub would have no problem picking up where you left off.”
Did I listen? Nope.
Come to find out, I should’ve. No, Death didn’t hunt me down on I-75. But when a medical emergency during my second year of teaching led to an unexpected sick day – and I had my lesson plans with me instead of at school – my kindergarteners (and their sub) were left without plans, without activities, without help.
